So as you may know, 3 posts ago we posted about uploading "Drop Tha Spot" to BBC Introducing after getting it back from DT Weapons after having it mastered by Most Wanted Audio...well a couple days passed and, honestly, we didn't expect anything because some reports say that it can take up to 6 weeks for music to be listened to on BBC Introducing...but then literally less than a week ago we had an email saying someone at BBC Introducing had listened to the track but that it didn't necessarily mean it would get played... cool we thought.

THEN, 3 days ago we had another email from James Threfall, the usual presenter for the BBC Introducing The West email us:

"James Threlfall here from BBC Introducing in the West. Just getting in touch as you may (or may not) be aware that we're featuring your music in the show this week - congrats! "

HERATIKS - Drop Tha Spot

COME ON!!!! Excited!!

So fast forward to last night! Wow! We are absolutely buzzing! It is a massive milestone that every new artist dreams of: to have our first ever radio play on the BBC!

Stepping in for James' show was Harriet Robinson to support our forthcoming single, "Drop Tha Spot," on BBC Introducing The West on BBC Radio Bristol. And not only did she play it, she made it her “Sound of the Weekend”!

For our first ever upload to the BBC to get that kind of support is just unreal and we are so incredibly hyped for what the future holds.
"Let’s get into our “Sound of the Weekend”. Which is basically the tune that brings the party and gets us in to that weekend mood and it’s actually a tune coming from a duo who we’ve never played before. This is their first ever upload to BBC Introducing. So HERATIKS are a DJ/Producer duo Justin & James from Somerset who focus on like Booty Shakin’, tech, bass and deep house music. This is their upcoming single, built, they say, for peak time energy and high impact moments in the set. It’s out on the 6th August. So bringing our BBC Introducing “Sound of the Weekend”, this is HERATIKS and “Drop Tha Spot”!”

And after she dropped the track, she followed up with:
“Such a BANGER, for your FIRST EVER play! Love that! HERATIKS with “Drop Tha Spot”, my “Sound of the Weekend” here on BBC Introducing in The West.”
Harriet Robinson (BBC Introducing The West)
"Hearing your track on the radio for the first time is a feeling we'll never forget! Harriet's introduction was wicked to hear, it's like one of those life affirmations that sometimes, as artists, imposter syndrome kicks in...and you just need to hear that other people like your stuff in order to believe more in what you're doing, and that what you're doing is actually good... you know?"
Justin Krause (HERATIKS)
A massive, massive thank you to James Threfell, Harriet Robinson and the whole team at BBC Introducing The West for believing in the track and giving us this incredible opportunity. The support from the local Introducing shows is absolutely vital for new artists to get heard, and we are so grateful.

This is a huge step for us on our journey, and it just makes us even more excited to get this track, and all the others we have in the works, out to you all!

If you missed it, you can listen back to the show over on the BBC Sounds website here: Listen to the show on BBC Sounds (scroll along to 1 hour 5 mins 37 seconds)

Just one thing, HERATIKS is pronounced “HERA” - “TIKS” as in “heretics” :-) .

Thank you all for being on this ride with us. Let's see where it goes!
